This was my first class with Dr. Urioste. This class (and its context) is unlike any class I have taken. It has made me fall in love with Mexican Literature. I have been anxious to read the next novels. These novels have made me proud to be Mexican. We have read El Zarco, Los de Abajo, Pedro Paramo, Aura, La Tumba, Como Agua para Chocolate, and El Periquillo Sarniento. In my opinion all of these novels have been like something I have never read before. They are unique. The authors have written these in non-traditional ways. After each reading there is a short quiz that follows. We have also gotten into small groups to analyze different parts of the novels and made short in class presentations. This has been an enjoyable course that has made me eager to read more literature this summer.
